The property we see here is a cortijo located on the outskirts of Vélez Blanco, an authentic white mountain village that was voted one of the most beautiful villages in Spain as recently as 2017. The cortijo is situated on a plot of no less than 23,958 m2 and overlooks the valley and the surrounding mountains. There is a private balsa present with the corresponding hours of water, a great asset in this southern part of Spain.

We drive through the village to get to the house. Immediately outside the village we see the balsa, and that´s where the property starts. We park on a nice flat piece of land just above the house and walk to the terrace. The owner shows us extensively where his land runs, and where there are all possibilities to enter the terrain. It is a beautiful picture. Before we go and see the cortijo, we take a look at the outbuilding: a barn with a simple bathroom in it.

We walk back to the cortijo and enter. We enter the dining room that adjoins the simple, but tidy kitchen. This cortijo consists, as is usual for houses of this era, of several rooms. The thick walls, meant to keep out both the heat of summer and the cold of winter, give away some of the age of the house. From the kitchen, we walk through to another spacious room. Notice the authentic details in this house, such as the wooden window frames and the roughly plastered walls. These elements give the house its own character.
We walk back to the living room and now go straight to a room that is connected to the first bedroom downstairs. On the other side of this living room is the bathroom.

From the living room we can go outside to the spacious patio. You could make a very nice courtyard garden out of this, there is plenty of room for a beautiful garden set and a set-up pool or jacuzzi. The patio also gives us access to a spacious barn, which used to be used as an animal shed.

We walk back inside and go up the stairs. On the first floor, we find two more lovely spacious bedrooms and the so-called cámara, a room formerly used for storing grains. Look at the beautiful ceiling with the wooden beams. You could easily create two more large bedrooms here.

This authentic cortijo stands on a beautiful spot and offers a lot of possibilities to really make it your home.
